It is my favorite author. Not far from the writing style that I like. Just read, of his own, The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, which deserves applause. But as I admire women who had been exploring, who dare, that are needed in their area of operation and today is his birthday anniversary, today's post is hers.
The writer Gertrude Stein was born on February 3, 1874, in Pittsburgh, in the United States. Member of a thriving prosperous Jewish family, spent much of his life in Austria and France. He studied Psychology with the renowned William James and Henri Bergson, did not graduate and moved to Paris in 1903. There he met the Alice B. Toklas also American, with whom he lived and established a solid relationship, unusual for the time .
In his house in the Rue de Fleurus, number 27, collected works of art and created a studio where he received a group of intellectuals and artists, such as Picasso, Matisse, and Guillaume Apollinaire and former patriados writers as James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway and Ezra Pound . The meetings became famous and that group of writers became known as the lost generation. This period is portrayed in his only bestseller, The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, 1933.
