Via Krupp, the "nemesis" of the king of the guns: the myth of the road still closed due to rockfall danger.

The gates of the street that bears the name of "King Cannons" and that was donated by Krupp to the island, closed for months now, almost certainly will remain wide open for a long time. The final order, dated May 23, decreed the closure because of the danger looming on the road due to falling rocks. Those fascinating twists and turns, that Krupp had built to the municipality, thanks to a generous donation made in 1901, and that the genius of the architect from Naples Emilio Maier was able to accomplish with a bold project in less than a year, remained closed for well thirty-two, from 1976 to 2008 due to a landslide that collapsed on the street. After three decades, and after an attempt that went wide in 1991 to reopen the road, Via Krupp was officially reopened in 2008 after a restyling and a grant from the Region of 7 million spent on the consolidation and reclamation of the ridge. The official date for the reopening of the presence of the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, was set for June 29 of that year, and here once again brought up the "curse" of Krupp. A storm, almost a hurricane, hit the island and the official opening was postponed a day later, with a solemn ceremony and the presence of the head of state who called Via Krupp "a magnificent one, on an island, Capri, which is itself a unique opportunity without comparison in the world which is also full of beautiful things.
