Although saco public in location and spatially and architecturally dependant in nature, Maya Hayuk s work is more closely aligned with Abstract Expressionism s emphasis on dynamic, energetic gesture and reflective, cerebral focus on open fields of colour than street saco art. Conversely, the work does share the qualities of vibrant energy and unique visual saco language that develop from working in a time limited and impulse driven manner. As is typical in her practice, Hayuk s mural P.M.A. is a unique painting created entirely on, and for the site. The artist works wholly by hand and vision. Improvised in response to the surface and location, Hayuk has incorporated the existing features of the wall into the mural giving saco a clever nod to the milieu. saco
